Rimx was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico in 1981. David received his diploma from the Central High School of Visual Arts in Santurce, PR where he studied drawing, painting, etching, sculpture, and xylography and began his interest in urban art. Later, he continued studying at the University of Plastic Arts in Old San Juan, PR, where he specialized in drawing the human figure, portrait and figurative art. He also studied editorial illustration, xylography, engraving and graphic design. After finishing his studies, he dedicated himself to incorporating the various techniques of classic art into urban art, specializing in murals. He has also worked doing editorial illustrations for magazines, newspapers, children’s publications, book covers, etc. David is a member of the artist collective CORO, which is comprised of graphic designers, illustrators and plastic artists. The CORO has successfully exhibited in Puerto Rico, Tokyo, Paris and New York. In addition to his collaborative works, David has held many solo exhibits. He also curated the Espacio Disponible show for the Caribbean University in Bayamon, PR.

The Story of Right Hand, Left Hand: An Ode to "Do the Right Thing"

20 Years later, our social woes remain just as timely as this classic film from Spike Lee. This project is my attempt to bring light and discourse to the same issues that were at the foreground and background of this film and how the parallels and foshadows of a generation of "Love & Hate" has systematically had us battling for our communities and for the future of our colorful youth. Characters that have never died in our community like Buggin Out, Radio Raheem, Mookie, Smiley, Da Mayor, and Señor Love Daddy are given a more social comprhension to their symbolic meaning to us today.

Join us on June 18th for my first solo art exhibit which is also the Launch of a new MVMT and the most anticipated line from 1SOUL. A Soulcial art project.

Le Barricou is a French Style Country Bistro located in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn opened by Jean-Pierre Marquet and Joshua Boissy. Their Chef prepares southern, traditional French dishes. The bar serves classic cocktails, wine by the glass, carafe, and bottle. The restaurant features communal tables, a wood burning fireplace, and a wine lounge.

The 5th Annual Hustlenomics event is being held on Friday, November 14, 2008. This year, we've invited a diverse range of artists to create and present art pieces encompassing the theme "Politricks". The artists will display their personal perspective on American or global politics. Since this year's event falls after the elections (in hopes that OBAMA is elected our President), it won't strictly be focused on the 2008 campaign. We've asked each artist to step outside the box and produce pieces that express how important and powerful politics has been throughout the turn of the century. These pieces will represent the impacts of politics and how its affected people of different race, demographics, economics, language and gender.

The Cruda Series by Ana Bravo Opens this week October 30th. Check out the latest work from this Mexican Artist from California. We will have complimentary Sangria and DJ LEYDIS straight from Cuba

The Cruda Series is something that began before Ana Bravo even really started painting. When She first became interested in Art she used to browse through all the art books at the library and the stuff that called out to her the most in the beginning was Cuban poster art from the 1960s and 70s. She thought it was really beautiful with the bright, bold colors and simple text. visually, it really appealed to her. She didn't know how to silkscreen at the time so she tried to duplicate that style by painting it. She can't pinpoint when sheI first heard about pink elephants…but when Bravo found out that cartoon characters would hallucinate them when they were intoxicated she just knew she wanted to paint them. Bravo always found it amusing that they called a hangover "la cruda" in Spanish. so she just put the two together and painted a little bit of her reality. in art school, her mentor would tell her not to paint flat…it used to really annoy her, but Bravo figured she should probably learn how to paint and draw a proper figure. that's when she started doing all the portraits. while she was in school they used to always tell her to go to the MOMA in SF and write about the work there. Ana Bravo remembers being blown away by this huge paining by Takashi Murakami. and guess what? it was bright pink and completely flat! and since the elephants always seemed to creep back into her work… she decided she would dedicate a show to them and just have fun with painting again…and hopefully get them out of her system…
